Description and list of plates in English. - The plates show door- and wall-paintings of different aspects of Amitabha`s epiphany. - "The Byodo-in is a Buddhist monastery built in the year Tengi (A.D. 1053) by Fujiwara Yorimichi, the master of the prosperous Fujiwara Family of court nobles, at his villa at Uji in the southern outskirt of Kyoto. ... Among the original buildings in the Byodo-in, only the famous Hoo-do (Phoenix-Hall) has survived to this day". (booklet). - A fine copy.
